FreeToTranscribe is a free online audio and video transcription service operated by FreeToTranscribe (ABN: 32 837 987 500), Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. You can upload a supported audio or video file and receive an automated transcript. The service does not require an account, signup, subscription, or payment.
You may use FreeToTranscribe only if you are legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are under 18, you should use the service only with permission from a parent or guardian. You must not use the service if doing so would break any law or infringe another person's rights.
You keep ownership of the files you upload and the transcripts generated from them. By uploading a file, you give FreeToTranscribe permission to upload, transmit, process, transcribe, and make the transcript available to you. This permission is limited to providing the service, handling support, preventing abuse, and complying with legal obligations.
By uploading a file, you confirm that you own it, have permission to upload and transcribe it, or are legally allowed to use it in this way. You are responsible for obtaining any consent required from people who are recorded in the file.
You must not upload content that is illegal, infringes copyright, breaches privacy rights, contains child sexual abuse material, promotes terrorism or violent extremism, contains malicious code, or is uploaded to harass or harm others. We may refuse, block, or remove any file or request if we reasonably believe it breaches these Terms.
Automated transcription is not perfect. Accuracy depends on your audio quality. You are responsible for checking the transcript before using it.
Accuracy can be affected by background noise, music, poor recording quality, accents, overlapping speakers, unclear speech, or file quality. FreeToTranscribe should not be treated as a certified, legal, medical, court, or official transcription service. Do not rely on transcripts for legal, medical, safety, financial, academic, or other serious decisions without carefully checking them.
FreeToTranscribe is completely free. No payment is required. You may use the service up to 5 times per day, with a combined total of 60 minutes of audio per day. Limits reset at midnight. Files longer than 60 minutes will be trimmed to 60 minutes before transcription. We may use technical and usage information to manage daily limits and prevent abuse. We may change, reduce, or discontinue the service at any time. Attempting to bypass the daily limit is not allowed.
FreeToTranscribe is not a file storage service. Uploaded files are deleted within 60 minutes after processing, cancellation, failure, or completion. You should download or copy your transcript as soon as it is ready. We are not responsible if you fail to download or save your transcript before it becomes unavailable.
FreeToTranscribe does not require users to create accounts. Because there are no accounts, we may not be able to recover your transcript if you close the page, clear your browser, or wait too long. You are responsible for saving your transcript once it is available.
We aim to keep FreeToTranscribe working smoothly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The website or transcription service may be affected by maintenance, outages, third-party service issues, internet problems, or security measures. We may pause, update, change, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
You must not use FreeToTranscribe to break the law, upload content you do not have rights to use, infringe copyright or privacy rights, upload harmful or illegal content, reverse engineer or attack the website, bypass the daily usage limit, overload or spam the service, or attempt to access files or transcripts belonging to others. We may block, cancel, or refuse service if we believe these rules have been breached.
FreeToTranscribe, including the website design, branding, text, layout, and code, belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, sell, or exploit the website or service without permission. You may use the transcript generated from your own uploaded file, subject to your rights in the original content and applicable laws.
FreeToTranscribe provides automated transcription only. The service does not provide legal, medical, financial, academic, migration, business, or professional advice. A transcript may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing the transcript and deciding how to use it.
To the maximum extent allowed by law, FreeToTranscribe is not liable for loss of profits, loss of data, missed deadlines, inaccurate transcripts, indirect or consequential loss, or damage caused by third-party providers or by your device, browser, internet connection, or uploaded file.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You agree that disputes will be handled by the courts or tribunals that have jurisdiction in that location.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with the updated date. Continued use of FreeToTranscribe after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
